Upgrade path

How to check the version of Ubuntu you are running:

  1. Log in to the Command Line, then sudo su To switch to the root account.
  2. Check the current version of Ubuntu by typing cat /etc/issue - If 20.04 or below is displayed, then you're running an unsupported version of our Gateway; follow the upgrade path below.

Upgrading

Upgrade a current USS Gateway via the .deb package. Please follow the upgrade instructions.

If you want to upgrade a USS Gateway running Ubuntu 20.04 (out of support) to Ubuntu 22.04 (in support), please follow the upgrade instructions.

Requirements for the USS Gateway

USS Gateway is based on the Ubuntu 22.04 LTS Linux operating system.

Minimum requirements

  • x86-64-bit CPU-based physical or virtual machine *
  • 16GB RAM
  • 80GB storage space
  • One Ethernet network interface
  • 2 CPU (4 cores)
  • Direct access to ports 80 and 443, or ports 1344 and 1345, is required from the Gateway device

* Hypervisors such as VMware (with VMware Tools installed), VirtualBoxXenServerHyper-V (with Integration Services installed)

Suggested specification for larger networks:

  • 32 GB RAM
  • 120GB storage space, SSD and RAID
  • 4-8 CPU (8-16 CPU cores)
The specification required can vary depending on the number of users, amount of bandwidth and the type of scanning that the gateway is performing. Add-ons such as anti-malware and image analysis will require additional resources.
