How to Deploy the SSL Certificate to a macOS Device

Exports the profile certificate to support HTTPS inspection and ensure macOS devices trust your secure web traffic.

Background

When you first install the macOS agent and try to access a website, you'll get a certificate error, because your Mac doesn't yet trust the SSL certificate used for web inspection.

Steps

  1. In the dashboard, select the Web Security icon.
  2. Open Agent Configuration under Web Security.
  3. Select the agent profile assigned to your macOS agent.
  4. Go to TLS Certificate to view the certificate used for secure web inspection in this profile.
  5. Click Download to save the TLS certificate.
  6. Open Keychain Access, then go to File > Import Items. Enter your Mac password.
  7. Select the downloaded certificate, then click Open.
  8. Once imported, double-click the certificate to open it.
  9. Change the trust setting to Always Trust, then close the box.
  10. Enter your Mac password to confirm.
  11. The certificate now appears as trusted in Keychain Access.

Result

You'll no longer see certificate errors when accessing sites. If you view the certificate details, it will show as issued by your security provider — confirming SSL inspection is active.
